I'm so very thankful for second chances...
For being able to marry to my best friend, who is the best travel partner ever...
For our amazing Friends & Family, who love us so much...
And, for a simple fun wedding!!!
We didn't go to the chapel, instead we went to the Dentzel Carousel. Our wedding was one of the most fun things I've ever done!!! And, I'm proud to say that we did it all ourselves, with the help of our friends & family. My business partner Angela & her husband Brad helped us coordinate everything, & The Glicco's baked Derek's grandmother's oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. All of the flowers came from my parents farm, & my mom helped with the arranging. Patrick's parents picked and shelled the pecans for my pecan pies. I grew the succulents for my bouquet & Patrick's boutonniere, and everyone was welcomed to the big event with a sidewalk chalk message drawn by Kim. Oh yeah, I was the wedding photographer, and Angela & Kim took the pics of Patrick & I.
I highly recommend a do it yourself wedding!!! DIY projects are so much more fun than meeting with caterers and wedding coordinators. All along Patrick was worried that I would have a breakdown over this wedding, but that never happened. He now knows this is just what I do, & he had as much fun as I did!

tin cans & burlap
We're down to a week and a half before the wedding, and I'm busy wrapping up a few craft projects. Patrick (and me too) will be elated when all of these little projects are finished. Our counter tops have been covered with my art supplies for months... SERIOUSLY!
Here's a peek at what's been going on around here...
tin cans + succulents + burlap + twine = wedding table toppers
I have a few more surprise details to add, but so far I love how this project is turning out. Even better, it's keeping us under budget. I'm determined to keep the cost of this wedding low!!!!! And now you know how my succulent obsession began...
On a side note, I'm loving how these photos turned out. The nice foggy effect is just that... Fog! Probably not so great for my camera, but my lens fogged when I took my camera out of my frigid house, and into this hot humid Mississippi morning.

backyard engagement celebration
This weekend our friends Jack & Courtney threw us an engagement party, at their home. We spent the evening sitting on their patio, sipping cocktails, playing yard games, and enjoying our friends. We feel lucky to have such amazing friends... thank you for making us feel loved!

we're engaged
June 30, 2013 is one of the best days of my life. That's the day Patrick gave me this amazing 1920's art deco engagement ring, and ask me to marry him. I think he had an elaborate wedding proposal planned, but when it came down to it, he ask me at what's soon to be "our" new home. It couldn't have been a better proposal! Maybe it was because we always get lovey, listening to our new favorite Alabama Shakes station on Pandora.
We immediately popped the bubbly and jumped in the pool to celebrate!!!! Before long we were starving, and headed to dinner at our local hole in the wall Thai restaurant. You can't beat great Thai Food and a free jukebox with lots of great 70's tunes.
Thank you Patrick, you've made me a very lucky girl!

summer musings
Right now I'm obsessed with succulents, but who isn't these days! I
think this is the first time I realized a plant could become a fad. Fad or not, they're beautiful under our gazebo... and perfect for my habits.
In the Spring, I'm over zealous, but by mid Summer I have no desire to water plants. I know it's sad, but very true. I'd much rather spend my time lazing in the pool, when I'm not busy designing jewelry.
Do you have a green thumb? I do only when it comes to basil and hot peppers. Lucky for us, our families have huge gardens. I would die without Summer Squash.
I'm extremely excited about my new little clippings that just arrived. I found them on a great etsy site, that is cheaper than local. I plan to use them in my wedding bouquet and Patrick's boutonniere. Only 24 more days til the BIG day! I think I'm the luckiest girl ever!!!
